Ch1
Give thine ears, hear what is said
\Give thy mind to interperate them
To put them in your heart is benificial.
It is deteimental for him who neglects them
Let them rest in the casket of your belly
That they may be a part in thier heart
Even when there is a whirlwind of words
they shall be a mooring stake, for your tongue
if you spend yourlifetime whila this is in your heart
you will find success
you will find my words a treasurey of life
your body will porsper apon earth
ch2
Guard yourself against robbing the wretched
and again being not puissant over the man of broken arm
do not repel an old man
nor anticipate the aged
do not let yourself be sent on a wicked mission
nor love one who has performed it
do not cry out against one who has been injured
nor answer back to justify yourself
he who does evil, the river bank abandons him
and his flooded land will carry him away
the nonrth wind will come down so that it may end his hour
it is united to the tempest
the thunder is loud and the crockodile evil
o hot head what is your condition
he is crying out his voice to heaven
o moon arraign his crime
steer that we may ferry the wicked man accross
for we shall not act like them
lift him up, give him your hand
lift him in the hands of the god
fill his belly with breat that you have
so taht he may be sated and may cast down his eyes
ch3
do not get into a quarell with the argumentative man, nor incite him
with words
proceed cautiously before an opponent
and give way to an advisary
sleep on it before speaking
for a storm will come forth like fire in hey
the hot winded man is his appointed time
may you be restrained before him
leave him to himself
and ntr will know to answer him
if you spend your life with these things in your heart
your children shall behold them
ch4
as for the hot headed man in a temmple
he is like a tree growing in an enclosed place
a moment complet; its loss of foilage
its end is reached in the makherma
it is sunk far from its place
the flame is its burial shroud
the truely silent man, he withdrew himself apart
he is like a tree growing in a pot
it grows given and doubled its yeald
it is before its lord
its fruit is sweet; its shade is pleasent
its end ireached in the grove.
ch5
Do not take by violence the shares of the temple,
do not be grasping, you you will find overabundance;
do not take away a temple servant
in order to acquire the property of another man.
Do not say today is the same as tomorrow,
or how will matters come to pass?
When tomorrow comes, today is past;
The deep waters sink fromt he canal bank,
crocodiles are uncovered, the hippopotamuses are on dry land,
and the fishes gasping for air;
the wolves are fat, wild fowl in festival and the nets are drained.
Every temperate man in the temple says,
Great is the benevolence of Ra.
Fill yourself with silence, you will find life,
and you body shall flourish upon earth.
Ch6.
Do not displace the surveyor's marker ont he boundaries of hte arable
land,
nor alter the position of the measuring line;
do not be greedy for a plot of land,
nor overturn the boundaries of a widow.
As fo rthe road in the field worn down by time,
he who takes it violently for fields,
if he traps by deceptive attestations,
will be lassoed by the might of the moon.
To one who has done this on earth, pay attention,
for he is a weak enemy;
he is an enemy overturned inside himself;
life is taken from his eye;
his household is hotile to the comunity,
his storerooms are toppled over,
his property taken from his children,
and to someone else his possessions given.
Take care not to topple over the boundary marks of the arable land,
not fearing that you will be brought to court;
man propitiates God by the might of the Lord
when he sets straight the boundaries of the arable land.
Desire then, to make yoursefle prosper,
and take care of the Lord of All;
do not trample on the furrow of someone else,
thier good order will be profitable for you.
So plough the fields, and you will find whatever you need,
and receive the bread from your own threshing floor:
Better is the bushel which god gives you
than five thousand deceitfully gotten;
they do not spend a day in the storehouse or warehouse,
they are no use fo r dough for beer,
their stay in the granary is short-lived,
when morning comes they will be swept away.
Better then, is poverty in the hand of god
than riches in the storehouse;
better is bread when the mind is at ease
then riches with anxiety.
ch 7
Do not set your heart upon seeking riches,
for there is no one who can ignore destiny and fortune;
do not set your thought s on external matters;
for everyo man there is his appointed time.
Do not exet yourself to seek out excess
and your wealth will prosper for you;
if riches come to you by theft
they will not spend the night with you
as soon as day breaks they will not be in your household;
although thier places can be seen, they are not there
when the earth opens up its mouth, it levels him and swallows him up
and it drowns him in the deep
they have made for themselves a great hold which suits them
and they have sunk themselves in the tomb;
or they have made themselves wings like geese
and they fly up to the sky.
Do not be pleased with your self because of riches acquired through
robbery
neither complain about poverty
if an officer commands on who goes in front of him
his company leaves him
the boat of the covetous is abandond the mud
whial the skiff of the truly temperate man sails on
when he rises you shall offer to the aten
saying grant me prosperity and health
and he will give you your necessities for life
and you will be safe from fear.
ch8
Set your good deeds throught the world
that you may greet everyone;
they make rejoicing for Uraeus
and spit against the Apep
Keep your tongue safe from words of detraction
and you will be the loved one of the people
then you will find your place with in the temple and your offerings
amon the bread deliveries of your lord;
you will be revered,, when you are concealed your grave and be safe
from the might of god.
do not accuse a man
when the news of an escape is conealed
if you hear something good or bad
say it outside where it is not heard
set a good report on your tongue
while the bad thing is covered up inside you.
(this looks way to much like the art of war, I wonder if I got confused somewhere)
Some terrain is easily passable, in some you get hung up, some makes
for a standoff, some is narrow, some is steep some is wide open.
When both sides can come and go, the terrain is said to be easily
passable. When the terrain is easily passable, take up your position
first, choosing the high and sunny side, convenient to supply routs,
for advantage in battle.
When you can go but have a hard time getting back, you are said to
be hung up. On this type of terrain, if the ipponent is unprepared,
you will prevail if you go forth, but if the enemy is prepared, if you
go forth and do not prevail, you will have a hard time getting back,
to your disadvantage.
When it is disadvantageous for either side to go forth, it is
called standoff terrain. On standoff terrain, even though the opponent
offers you an advantage, you do not go for it ---you withdrao,
inducing the enemy half out, and then you attack, to your advantage.
On narrow terrain, if you are there first, you should fill it up to
await the opponent. If the opponent is there first, do not pursue if
the opponent fills the narrows. Pursue of the opponent does not fill
the narrows.
On steep terrain, if you are there first, you should occupy the
gigh and sunny side to await the opponent. IF the opponent is there
first, withdraw from there and do not pursue.
On wide open terrain, the force of momentum is qualized, and it is
hard to make a challenge, disadvantageous to fight.
Understanding these six kinds of terrain is the highest
responsiblity of the general, and it is imperative to examine them.
So among military forces there are those who rush, those who tarry,
those who fall, those who crumble, those who riot, and those who get
beaten. These are not natural disasters, but faults of the generals.
Those who have equal momentum but strike ten with one are in a
rush. Those whose soldiers are strong but whose officers are weak
tarry. Those whose officers are strong but whose soldiers are weak
fall. When colonels are angry and obstreperous and fight on thier own
out of spite when they meet opponents, and the generals do not know
thier abilities, they crumble.
When the generals are weak and alck authority, instructions are not
clear. officers and soldiers lack When the generals cannot assess
opponents, clash with much greater numbers or more powerful forces,
and do not sort out the levels of skill among thier own troops, these
are the ones who get beaten.
These six are ways to defeat. Understanding this is the ultimate
responsibility of the generals; they must be examined.
The contour of the land is an aid to an army; sizing up opponents to
determine ictory, assessing dangers and distances, is the proper
course of action for military leaders. Those who do battle knowing
these will win, those who do battle without knowing these will lose.
Therefore, when the laws of war indicated certain vicotry it is surely
appropriate to do battle, even if the government says there is to be
no battle. If the laws of war do not indicate victory, it is
appropriate not to do battle, even if the government orders war. Thus
one advances without seeking glory, retreats without avoiding blame,
only protecting people, to the benefit of the government as well, thus
rendering valuable service to the nation.
Look upon your soliers as you do infants, and they willingly go into
deep valleys with you; look upon your soldiers as beloved children,
and they willingly die with you.
If you are so nice to them that you cannot employ them, so kind to
them that you cannot command them, so casual with them that you cannot
establish order, they are like spoiled children, useless.
If you know your soldires are capable of striking, but do not know
whether the eneemy is invulnerable to a strike, you have half a chance
of winning. If you know the eneemby is vulnerable to a strike, but do
not know if you r soldiers are incapable of making such a strike you
have half a chance of winning. If you know the enemy is vulnerable to
a strike, but do not know if your soldires can make the strike, but do
not know if hte lay of the land makes it unsuitable for battle you
have half a chance of winning.
Therefore those who know martial arts do not waner when they move, and
do not become exhausted when they rise up. So it is said that when you
know yourself and others, victory is not in danger; when you know sky
and earth, victory is inexhaustible.
Do not covet the property of an official
and do not fill your mouth with too much food extravagantly
if he sets you to manage his property
respect his and yoru s will prosper
do not deal with the intemperate man
nor associate yourself to a disloyal party
if you are sent to transport straw,
prespect its account
if a man is detected in a dhishonest transation
never again will he be employed
ch 13
Do not lead a man astray reed pen or papyrus document
it is the abomination of god
do not witness a false statement
nor remove a man from the l ist by your order
do not enroll someone who has nothing
no make your pen be false
if you find a lage debt against a poor man,
make it into three parts
releasee two fo them and let one remain
you will find it a path of life
you will pass the night in sound sleep ; in the morning
you will find it like good news
better it is to be praised as one loved by men
than wealth in the storehouse;
better is bread when the mind is at ease
than riches with troubles
ch 14
do not pay attention to a preson
nor exert yourself to seek out his hand
if he says to you 'take a bribe'
it is not an insignificant matter to eed him;
do not avert your glance from him, nor bend down your head
nor turn aside your gaze
address him with your words and say to him greetings;
when he stops your chance will come
do not repel him at his first approach
another time he will be braught to judgement
ch 15
do well andd you will attain influence
do not dip your reed against the one who sins
the break of the ibis is the finger of the scribe
take care not to disturb it
the ape (djehuti)rests in the temple of khmun
while his eye travles around the two lands
if he sees one who sins with his finger (a scribe)
he takes away his provisions by the flood
as for a scribe who sins w/his finger
his son shall not be enrolled
if you spend your life with these things in your heart
your children shall see them
ch16
Do not unbalace the scale nor make the weights false
nor diminish the fractions of the grain measure
do not wishs for the grain measures of the fields
and then cast aside those of the treasury
the ape sits by the balance
while his heart is the plummet
where is a god as great as Djehuti
the one who discovered these things, to create them?
do not get for yourself short weights
they are plentiful, yea and army by the might of god
if you see someone cheating
at a distance you must pass him by
do not be avaricious for copper
and abjure fine clothes
what is good is one cloaked in fine linen woven as mek
when he cheats before god
when gold is heaped apon gold
at daybreak it turns to lead.
16
Do not unbalbace the scale nor make the weights false,
nor diminish the fractions of the grain measure
do not wish for the grain measures of the fields
and then cast aside those of the treasury
the ape sits by the balance
while his heart is the plummet
where is a god as great as Djehuti
the one who discovered these things, to create them
do not get for yourself short weights
they are plentiful, yea an army by themight of god
if you see somemone cheating
at a distance you must pass him by
do not be avaricious for copper
and abjure fine clothes
what godd is one cloaked in fine linen woven as mek
when he cheats before god
when gold is heaped upon gold
at daybreak it turnes to lead
17 Beware of robbing the grain measure
to falsify its fractions
do not act wrongfully through force
although it is empty inside
may you have it measure exactly as to its size
your hand stretching out with precision
make not for yourself a measure of two capacities for then it is
toward the depths that you will go
the measure is the eye of Ra
its abomination is the one who takes
as for a grain measurer who multiplies and subtracts
his eye will seal up against him
do not receive the harvest tax of a cultivator
nor bind up a papyrus against him to lead him astray
do not enter into collusion with the grain measurer
Nor play with the seed allotment
more impportant is the threshing floor for barley
than swearing by the Great Throne.
18
do not go to bed fearing tomorrow
for when day breaks what is tomorow
Man knows not what tomorrow is
God is success
man is failure
the words which meen say pass on one side
the things which god does pass on another side
do not say I am with out fault
Nort try to seek out trouble
Fault is the business of God
it is locked up with his seal
There is no success in the hand of god
Nor is there failure before him
If he turns himself about to seek out success in a moment he destroys him
Be strong in your heart, make your mind firm
do not steer with your tongue
the tongue of a man is the sterring oar of a boat
and the lord of All is its pilot
19
Do not enter the council chamber in the presence of a magistrate
and then falsify your speech
do not go up and down with your accusation
when you witness stand readied
do not overstate oaths in the name of your Lord
pleas the place of questioning
tell the truth before the magistrate
lest he gain power over your body
if you come before him the next day
he will concur with all you say
he will present your case court before the council of the thirty
and it will be lenient another time as well
20
Do not corrupt the people of the law court
nor put aside the just man
do not agree because of garments of white
no accept one in rags
take not the gift of the strong man
nor repress teh weak for him
justice is a wonderful gift of god
and he will render it to whomever he wishes
the strength of one like him
saves a poor wretch from his
do not make false enrollment lists
for they are a serious affair deserving death
they are serious oaths of the kind promising not to misuse an office
and they are to be investigated by an informer
do not falsify the oracles on a papyrus
and therby alter the designs of god
do not arrogate to yourself the might of god
as if destiny and fortune did not exsist
hand property over to its rightful owners
and seek out life for yourself
let not your heart build in thier house
for then your neck will be on the exicution block
21
Do Not say I have found a strong protector
and now I can challenge a man in my town
Do Not say I have found an active intercessor
and now I can challenge him whom I hate
(yeah do that shit yourself)
Indeed you cannot know the plans of God
You cannot perceive tomorow
sit yourself at the hands of God
Your tranuility will cause them to open
(you see, God sent me... and I will have to take care of this for
you... as because you are the above that means you EXPECT the me
version of god to deal w/all your bs.)
as for the crocodile deprived of his tongue
(I ate it)
the fear of him is neglisgible
(fear is the mindkiller... it says so in dune !)
Empty not your soul to everybody
(how gross)
and do not diminish thereby your importance
(wait just a min... most people dont even begin to comprehend or
fathom how utterly important I am)
do not circulate your words to others
(aren't I doing that rt now?)
nor fraternise with one who is too candid
better is a man whose knowledge is inside him
than one who talks to disadvantage
(ignorant bastards)
one cannot run to attain perfection
(oh but those armchair buddhists try so hard at it too.... )
once can not create only to destroy it
(I AM the creator... )
(this song playing is so utterly horrible.. its called sell my soul)
22
(ichibyo no refrain otoha... its such a cute song)
DO not castigate your companion in a dispute
(is that a word?)
(1. to criticize or reprimand severely.
2. to punish in order to correct.
1. scold, reprove. 2. discipline, chastise, chasten.
1. To inflict severe punishment on. See Synonyms at punish.
2. To criticize severely.
wait just a min didn't that other guy in some other wisedome text say
you should not tolerate ignorance and that you should at least smack
them w/a zen stick???? -- where was that anyway?)
And do not him say his innermost thoughts
Do not fly up to greet him
when you do not see how he acts
may you first (that looks wrong...dyslexia) comprehend his accusation
and cool down your opponant
(ok so lets see... dont rip appart your companion's psyche.....and
dont mind rape him and spiew it out..... do not point at him unless
you stalk him.... so I guess this is a do not stirr up strife thing
and do not give into your base chakra rip the infedel's face off thing)
Leave it to him and he will empty his soul
(sounds awful)
sleep knows how to find him out
(bwaahahhaahaa Im not imagining all manner of shadow creatures
gathered around a bed)
take his feet, do not bother him
(how does that work?)
fear him, do not underestimate him
(that is so hard when you are as godly and great and good as I am)
Indeed you cannot know th eplans of god
you can not perceive tomorow (wanna make a bet? I got my cards rt here)
sit yourself at the hands of god
your tranquility will cause them to open
23
Grip
by everylittle thing
Inuyasha sound track
bounci bounci
SAY good for now
no wait...that isnt it... oh yeah Im sposed to be doing thissaido ni
warau tame bokura
how did that sound like ... never mind
23
Do not eat a meal in the presence of a magistrate
(why?)
Nor set to speaking first (who wants to talk to a magistrate if there
is nothing wrong.. what an awful song... it must be gact.. what is
lovemoving on to another horrid song,, happy people by skoop on
somebody-- bleach soundtrack)
If you are satisfied with false words
Enjoy yourself with your spittle
(what the hell was that? I mean I get the last two lines no prob...
but?????? )
the heart of a man is the beak of the god
(which one?)
so take care not to slight it
(not up for blasphemy)
a man who stands the side of an official
should not have his name known on the street
(makes sence to me I guess... but I'd really like to know why.)
(can no longer listen to this crappy song must skip it
Gou
Narita Ken
Inuyasha charactor single for Sesshomarou)
25
do not jeer at a blind man nor tease a dwarf
(how aful... why do people have to be told things like this ,,,, where
is the phone?)
neither interfere with the condition of a cripple
do not taunt a man who is in the hand of god
nor scowl at him if her errs
Man is clay and straw
and God is his potter
(knummmmmmmmn)
He overthrows and he builds daily
he impovershes a thousand if he wishes
(why would he want to?)
he makes a thousand into examiners
when he is in his hour of life
how fortunate is he who reaches the west
when he is safe in the hands of god
(I think he was wandering around a bit here.....)
26
DO NOT stay in the tavern
(esp a skinhead tavern)
and join someone greater than you
Whether he be high or low in his station
an old man or a youth
but take as a friend for yourself someone compatable
ra is helful though he is far away
(ok I wanna know why I cant befriend anyone benieth my station as
there are sooooooooooooooooo few above it)
when you see someone greater than you outside
and attendants following him, respect him
(well no shit... those attendants can get VIOLENT)
And give a hand to an old man filled with beer
(whial plugging your nose)
Respect him as his children would
(Im still not getting a why .....)
The strong arm is not weakened when it is uncovered
the back is not broken when one bends it
better is the poor man who speaks sweet words
(Im hungry and want mac and chesse but I forgot to bring some damnit)
than the rich man who speaks harshly
(definately agree w/that but what does it have to do w/the first two
stanzas?)
A piolot who sees into the distance
will not let his ship capsize
(nooooo not unless he is suicidal... but why is that there?)
27
Do not reproach someone older than you
(what if they are just WRONG?)
For he has seen the sun before you
do not let yourself be reported to the aten when he rises
with the words 'another young man has reproached an elder'
(well... I will not have to worry on that this life time)
very sick in the sight of Ra
is a young man who reproaches an elder
let him beat you with your hands folded
(did amenemope have an issue ?)
Let him reproach you while you keep quiet
then when you come before him in the morning
he will give you bread freely
(this doesnt sound like a good enough exchange to me)
As for bread, he who has it becomes a dog,
he barks to the one who gives it
(WTH!?!!?)
28
Do not expose a window if you have caught her in the fields
(???)
ohhhh that was WIDOW
Nor fail to give way if she is accused
do not turn a stranger away your oil jar
that it may be made double for your family
god loves him who cares for the poor
more than him who respects the wealthy
(I understood this.... and there was no off topic wandering.....)
29
do not turn people away from crossing the river
(I am now reminded of that sceen in the mummy 2)
when you have room in your ferryboat
if a sterring oar is given you in the midst of the deep waters
so bend back your hands take it up
it is not an abomination in the hand of god
if the passenger is not cared for.
(I do not like this song... it must be skipped.. how anoying it
started off really cool too)
Do not aquire a ferryboat on the river
and then attempt to seek out its fares
take the are from teh man of means
but also accept the destitute w/out charge
(nice)
ch 30
Mark for yourself these thirty chapters
they please, they instruct
they are the foremost of all books
(wow,,,, are you not full of yourself)
they teach the ingorant
(when you arent going off topic and refusing to explane what you are
talking about and why or just semantically wandering all the hell over
the place)
If they are read to an ignorant man
he will be purified through them
(I somehow do not believe you... I think y ou have an ego issue)
Seize them; put them in your mind
(there is enough in there as it is)
and have men interpret them, explaining as a teacher
as to a scribe who is experienced in his position
he will find himself worthy of being a courtier

Maximums of Ptah Hotep
Decay falls upon and decline takes the place of youth.
Be not arrogant of that which you know; deal with the ignorant as with
tthe learned; for the bariers of art are not closed, no artist being
in possession of perfection to which he would aspire, but good words
are more difficult to find than the emerald, for it is by slaves that
it is descovered among rocks of pegmatite.
If you find a disputant whial he is hot, and if he is supirior to you
in ability, lower the hands behind the back, do not get into a passion
with him. As he will not let you destroy his words, it is wrong to
interupt him, that proclames that you are incapebable of keeping
yourself calm when you are contradicted. If then you have to do w/a
disputant whial he is hot, immitate one who des not stir. You have the
advantage over him if you keep silent when he is uttering evil words.
The better of the two is he who is impassive. You are right in the
opinion of the great.
If you find a disputant whial he is hot, do not despise him because
you are not of the same opinion. Be not agnry against him when he is
wrong; away with such a thing. He fights against himself; require him
not further to flatter your feelings. Do not amuse yourself with the
spectacle which you have before you ; it is odio, it is mean, it is
the part of a despicable soul to do so. As soon as you let yoruself be
moved by your feelings, combat this desire as a thing that is reproved
by the great.
If you have, as a lelader, to decide on the conduct of a great number
of men, seek the most perfect manner of doing so that your own condut
may be with out repoval or reaporach. Justice is great, invariable and
assured; it has not been disturbed since the age of Ptah. To throw
obsticles in the way of the laws is to open the way before violence.
Shall that which is below gain the upper hand, if the unjust does not
attain to the place of justice? Even he who says: I take for myself of
my own free will but says not : I take by virtue of my own authority.
The limitations of justice are invariable, such as the instruction.
Inspire men not with fear, else Ptah will fight against you in the
same manner. If anyone aserts that he lives by such means, Ptah will
take away the bread from his mouth. If anyone asserts that he enriches
himself thereby, Ptah says I may take those riches to myself. If
anyone asserts that he beats others, Ptah will end by reducing him to
impotance. Let no one inspire men with fear, this is the will of Ptah.
Let one provide sustenance for them in the lap of peace; it will them
be that they will freely give what has been torn from them by terror.
If you are among the persons seated with meat in the house of a
greater man thatn yourself, take that which he gives you, bowing to
the ground, regard that which he gives y ou but point not at it,
regard it not grequently; he is a blamewrothy person who departs from
this rule. Speak not to the great man more than he requires, for no
one knows what may be dsipleasing to him. Speak when he invites you
and your worth will be pleaseing. As for the great man who has plenty
of means of existence, his conduct is as he desires to repose. He
realises his intetnion. The great man streaching forth his hand does
that to which other men do not attain. But as the means of existence
are under the will of ptah, one can not rebell agaisnt it.
If you are one of those who bring the messages of one great man to
another, confirm yourself exactly to that wwhere with he has charged
you, perfomr for him the commission he has assigned you. Beware of
altering in speaking the offensive words which one great person
addressess another; he who perverts the truthfullness of his way, in
order to repeat only what produces pleasure in the words of every man,
great or small, is a detestable person.
If you are a farmer, gather crops in the field wich the great Ptah has
given you, do not boast in the house of your neighbor, it is better
to make oneself dreaded by one's deads. As for him who , master of his
own way of accting, being all-powerful, seizes the goods of others,
like a crockodile in the midst, even of watchment his children are an
object of maledietion of scorn and of hatred on account of it, whial
his father is grievously distressd and as for the mother, who has born
him, happy is another reather, than herslef. But a man becoms a god
when he is chief of a tribe which has confidence in following him.
If you abse yourself in obeying a superior, your conduct is entirely
good before Ptah, knowing who you ought to obey and who to command,
do not lift up your heart against him. As you k now that in him is
authority, be respectful toward him. As belonging to him. Wealth comes
only at Ptah's own good will and his caprice only is the law, Ptah,
who has created his superiority turnes himself from him and he is
overthrown.
Be active durring the time of your existance, do not do more than
commanded. Do not spoil the time of your activity: he is a blame
worthy person when he makes bad use of his moments. Do not loose the
daily opportunity of increasing that which your house possesses.
Activity produces riches and riches do not endure when it slackens.
If you are a wise man, bring up a son who shall be pleasing to Ptah.
If he confirms his conduct o your way and occupies himself with oyour
affairs as is right, do to him all the good you can; he is your son. A
person attatched to you whom your own self has begotten. Seperate not
your heart from him. But if he conducts himself ill and transgresses
you and your wishes, if he rejects all counsel, if his mouth goes
according to the evil world, strike him on the mouth in return. Give
ordres w/out hesitation and he will not deviate from teh straight path
and there will be less obsticles to interupt the way
If you are employed in the larit, stand or sit rather than walk about.
Lay down rules for yourself from the first; not to absent yourself
when weariness overtakes. Keep an eye on him who enters anouncing that
what he askes is secret. What is entrusted to you is above reaproach
and all contrary argument is a matter to be rejected. He is a god who
penetrates into a place where no relaxation of the rules is made for
the priviledged.
If you are with people who display for you an extreme affection saying
"aspiration of my heart, aspiration of my heart, where , there is no
rememdy.." That whic is said in your heart let it be realized by
springing up spontantiosly. Sovereign master I give myself to your
opinion. Your name is approved w/out speaking. Your body is ful of
vigor, your face is above your meighbors. If then you are accustomed
to the excess of flatter and here be an obsticle to you in your
desires than your impusle is to obey your passion. But who... while
the man who is master of his soul is superior to those whom Ptah has
loaded with his gifts, the man who obeys his passion is under the
power of his wife.
Declare your line of conduct w/out reticence, give your opinion in the
councel of your lord, whial there are people who turn back upon thier
own words when they speak so as not to offend him who has put foreward
a statement and answer not in this fashion. He is a great man who will
recognise the error of another and when he shall rais his voice to
oppose the other about it, he will keep silent after what I have said.
If you are a leader setting foreward your plans according to that
which you decide, perfomr perfect actions which prosterity may
remember, without letting the words prevail with you which multipy
flattery, which excites pride and produces vanity.
If you are a leader of peace, listen tot he discource of the
petitioner. Be not abrupt w/him, that would trouble him. Say not to
him you have already recounted this. Intellegence will encourage him
to accomplish the object of his comming. Posfor being abrupt with the
complatent because he has described what passed when the injury itself
let it not be. The way to obtain a clear explination is to listen with
kindness.
If you desire to excite respect with int he house you enter, for
example, the house of a superior, a friend or any person of
consideration, in short, everyone who's house you enter, keep youself
from making advances to a woman, for there is nothing good in so
doing. There is no prudence in taking part in it, and causes men
destroying themselfves in order to enjoy a moment brief as a dream,
whial they gain death, so as to know it. It is a villanious intention,
that a man who thus excites himself if he goes on to carry it out, his
mind abandons him. For as him who is with out preugnancefor such an
act, there is no good sence at all in him.
If you desire that your conduct should be good and preserved from all
evil, keep yourself from everty attack of bad humor. It is a fatal
malady which leads to discord and there i sno longer any exsistence
for him who gives way to it, for it introcuces discord between fathers
and mothers as well as between brothers and sisters, it causes the
wife and the husband to hate eachother; it cuases contains all kinds
of wickedness, it embodies all kinds of wrong. when a man has
established his just equalibrium and walks in his path, there where he
makes his dwelling, there is not room for bad humor.
Be not of an irritable temper as regards to that which happened to
your side, grumble not over your own affairs. Be not of irritable
temper in regard to your neighbors, better is a compliment to that
which displeases then rudness. It is wrong to get in a passion with
one's neighbors, to be no longer master of one's own words when there
is only a little irritation one creates for oneself an affliction for
the time when on will again be cool.
If you are wise look after your house; love your wife without alloy,
fill her stomach, cloth herback, these are the cares to be bestowed on
her person. Caress her, fufflill her desires durring the time of her
exsistance, it is a kindnesswhich does honor to its position. Be not
brutal, tact will influence better than violence. Behond to what she
aspiser, as what she aims, what she regards. It is that which fixes
her in your house, if you repell her, it is an abyss. Open your arms
for her, respond to her arms, call her display to her your love.
Treat your dependents well, in so far as it belongs to you to do so.
And it belongs to you who Ptah has favored. If any one fails in
treating his dependents it is said he is a person........ "as we do
not know the events which may happen towmorow, he is a wise person by
whom is well treated. When there comes the necessity of showing zeal.
It iwll then be dependants who say come on !! if good treatment has
not quieted the place if it has quitetd it, the dependants are

do not repeat any extravigance of language, do not listen to it. It is
a thing which as escaped from a hastey mouth.if it is repeated, llook
with out hearing it toward the earth, say nothing in regard to it.
Cause him who speaks to you to know what is just, even him who
provokes to injustice; cause that wich is just to be done, cause it to
triumph. As for that wich is hatefull, according to the law, condemn
it by unveiling it.
If you are a wise man, sitting in the councel of your lord direct your
thoughts toward that which is wise. Be silent rather than scatter your
words. When you speak, know that which can be brought against you. To
speak in the councel is an art and speach is critacized more than any
other labor. It is contradiction which puts its proof.
If you are powerful, respect knowledge and calmness of language
command only to direct, to be absolute is to run into beta. Let not
your heart be haughty, neither let it be meman. Do not let your orders
remain unsaid and cause your answers to penetrate but speak with heat,
assume a serious countenence. As for the vivacity of an ardent heart,
temper it, the gentle man penetrates all obsticles. He who agitates
himself all day long has not a good moment and he who amuses himself
all the day long keeps not his fortune. Aim at fullness, like pilots,
once one is seated, another who and seeks to obey one's orders.
Disturb not a quiet man weaken not the attention of him who is
cocupied. His care to embrace his tack, and he strips his person
through the love for the work which they accomplis. Compose then your
face, even in trouble, that peace may be with you, when agitation is
with.... these are people who succeed in what they desire.
If you are anoyed at a thing, if you are tormented by someone who is
acting with his right, get out of his sight and remember him no more,
when he has ceased to adress you.
Teach others to render homage to a great man, If you gather the crop
for him among men. Cause it to return fully to its owner, at whose
hands is your substance. But the gift of affection is worth more than
the provisions with which your back is covered. For that which the
great man receaves from you will enable your house to live, with out
speaking of the main tenants you enhoy, which you desire to preseve
it, is thereby that he extends a benificiant hand and that in your
home good things are added to good things. Let your love pass into the
heart of those who love you; cause those about you to be loing and
obediant.
If you are the son of the guardians desputed to watch over the public
tranquility, execute your commission with out knowing its meaning and
speak with firmness. Substitute not for that which is the instruction
has said what you believe to be his intervention; the great use words
as it suits them. Your part is to transmit rather than comment apon.
You have become great after having been little; you you have become
rich after having been poor, when you are at the head of the city,
know how not to take advantage of the fact that you have reached the
first rank, harden not your heart because of your elevation, you are
become only the admisistration.l the prefect of the provisions which
belong to ptah. Put not behind you the neighbor who is like you be
unto him as a companion.
Know those who are your faithful to you when you are in low estate,
your merrit then is woth more than those who did your honor... behold
that which a man possesses completely. THis is of more improtance than
his high rank; for this is a matter which passes from one to another.
The merrit of one's son is advantageous to the father and that which
he really is. is worth more than the rememberance of his father.
Let your countanance be cheerful durring the time of your existance
when we see one departing from the stone house who has entered in
order to bring his share of provisions with his face contracted it
shows his stomach is empty and that authority is offensive to him. Let
that not happen to you.
Bend your back before your superiors. You are attatched to the place
of your king. Your house is established in its fortune and yoru
profits are as is fitting. Yet a man is annoyed at haveing an
authority above himself and passes the peroid of life in being vexed.
ALthough that hurts not yoru.... do not plunder the house of your
neighbors, seize not by force the godds which are beside you. Exclaim
not then against that which you hear and do not feel humiliated. It is
necessary to reflect when one is hindered by it that the preasure of
authority is felt aslo by ones beighbor.
If you aim at polished manners, call not whom you accost. Converse
with him especially in such a way as not to anoy him. Enter on a
discussion with him only after having left him time to saturate his
mind with the subject of the conversation. If he lets his ignorance
display itself and if he gives you all oportunity to disgrace him,
treat him with courtesy rather. Proceed not to drive him in a crushing
manner, crush him not. Worry him not in,,, in order that hin his turn
he may not return the subject but depart to the profit of your
conversation.
Distinguish the superintendant who directs from the workman for manual
labor is little evelvated; the inaction of the lands is honorable. If
a man is not in the evil way, that which places him there is the want
of subrodination to authority.
If you take a wife do NOT......... let her be more contednted than
any of her fellows. She will be attatched to you doubly if her chain
is pleasant. Do not repell her, grant that which pleases her, it is to
her contentment that she apreciates your work.

Domestic Instruction of Papyrus Insinger
Do not let yourself be named "bad" because of merciless evil, rude,
because of ignorance or lack of shame; because of thoughtless greed;
one who seeks gain through abuse, because of violence. because of not
speaking when it it time to.
In a wise man's hands, rewards and punishements are measured.
Better a quick man's small accomplishment, then a procrasticanors
large one.
Don't forget the man who works efficiantly or the one strong in his work.
Do not concernrn yourself with vengence, do what is in front of you.
The foolish tongue of a stupid man acts like a knife that cuts his life.
Do not take on heavy weight if you are weak in balance.
Do not adopt a differant custom that differs fromt he laws of the land.
Do not squander what little you have if you have nothing stored up.
Do not eat up your profits before fate has given them.
Do not be greedy for a wealthy lifestyle you will never know.
Mistackes of everykind of charactor come from not listaning.
The man who listens to a reprimand saves himself another.
To serve by virture of good charecter protects the one who needs
protecting.
Djehuti placed the stick upon the earth in order to teach fools. He
also gave a sense of shame to the wise man so that he may escape harm.
There is no tru protection except in doing the god's work and the only
true servent is the one who serves god. The servant is the upper wall
in the darkness of his lord.
For it is Ntr who protects his wise man, due to his service, little
anger, sense of shame and a sence of caring ar ethe praises of a wise man.
He who loves his neighbor will find himself surrounded by family.
Before Ntr both the strong and the week are laughable. Fate and
forture go and come at Ntr command.
Death and tomorow's life, we can not know, this today and its
livelyhood is what a wise man requests.
The heart can not be ascended when its in pain.
Do not perfer death to life, if you are desparing about misfortune,
Ntr returns contentment, the dead to not return at all.
Do not sail the course of an evil man even if fate favors him.
A wise man's patience is in consulting w/Ntr.
Harship when there is no fault, should not be feared. A time of
misfortun does not make a godly man give up.
He who turns away from anger is one far from the Ntr's anger.
Gentleness in every way makes a wise man praised.
Do not permit your tongue to advise when you haven't been asked.
Fate, together with Ntr brings after worry.
Fate does not look ahead, retaliation does not come wrongully. Great
is the Ntr's councel for putting one thing before an other.
Do not take back anything that you have said except that which is
illegal or wrong.
Do not let your speach be differant from your heart in advise when you
are asked.
Many are the insignificant things worthy of respect. Few are the great
things worthy of respect.
The hidden work of the Ntr is made known daily on this earth. He
created light and darkness in which each being is. He created the
earth, birthing millions, swallowing them up and birthing them again.
He created summer and winter through Septs rising and setting. He
created food before the living, the wonders of the fields. He created
the constalations in the sky, that those on earth might know these. He
created breath in the egg even though there was not enterance for it.
He created birth in every womb fromt eh semen they receave. He created
flesh and bones out of the same seed. he created sleep to end
weariness and wakfullness for looking for food.
He created reminders to end sickness and wine to end sadness
He created dreams to show the way the dreams in his blindness
He created life and death before himself for the torment of the impoius
He created wealth for honesty, poverty for falsehood
He created work for the stupid and food for the commoner
He created the seasons of generations so as to have them live
He permits the destiny of the living to be hidden from them so that it
may be unknown.
He permits the food of one who brings food to be differant from the
one that receaves food.
He permits the woman of the roay haram to have another husband
(let us pause here, cause I think that is very important)
He permits the stranger from somewhere else to live like a citazen
There is no man among the people who knows his future that is before him
Fate and retalition turn around and bring about what Ntr commands
Violence, poverty, insutls and meannes (unkindness) never ever rest.
I have not burned to do evil in my heart and Ntr knows
I have not taken revenge on anyone else and no one else has suffered
on my account. I beg forgiveness for all sins committed unknowingly
and I call to the Ntr to have mercy on me and give me sweetness..
Vengance is exalted for its name and belittled for its impatience. Its
punnishment is heavier than t he punnishment of skehmet when she rages.
When vengance comes intot a house, fate tries to escape it
When vengance comes intoa family, it makes brothers enemies
When vengance comes into a town, it makes strife among people
when it comes into a state, it gives evil men power
when it comes into temples it makes fools strong
when it comes to godlesss men, it makes others fear him
when it comes to a wise man it makes him foolish, evil and thoughtless
there is no counsel or consideration in a vengeful wise man.
because of ignorance or lack of shame; because of thoughtless greed;
one who seeks gain through abuse, because of violence. because of not
speaking when it it time to.

The Instruction of Duauf
is all about how one should be a scribe.
The Instruction of King Amenemhet.
The king Amenemhet (1955 - 1965 bc), in the 20th year of his reign,
made his son Sesostris I co-regent and withdrew from the outward
activities of political life. This document represents the aged king
as recounting to his son on this occasion, by way of admonishment, the
events wich induced him to take this step; he had preaped
ingratituded, and an attempt had been made on his life.
Instruction which the majexty of King Sehetepibre, the son of Re,
Amenemhet , made, speaking in a message of truth to his son, the Lord
of All.
He said: You have appeared as God, listen to what I say to you, that
you may be king over the lands and ruler over the river banks, that
you you may do good in excess of what is looked for. Be on you guard
against subordinates; do not approach them, and do not be alone. Do
not trust a brother, do not trust 'friends' and do not get to close to
people, this does not profit you.
If you sleep, guard your heart, in this day of advisary no man shall
have adhearents. I give to the poor and nourished the orphan, I cause
him that was nothing to reach the goal, even as him that was of account.
It was he who ate my food that distained me; it was he to whom I gave
my hand that aroused fear therewith. They that clothed them in my fine
linen looked at me as at a shadow and they that anointed them with my
myrrh, pured water.
Mine images are among the living, and my shares (in the offerings)
among men and yet they contrived a conspiracy against me, without it
being heard, and a great contest, with out it being seen. Men fought
on the place of combat and forgot yesterday. Good fortun attends not
one that knows not when he ought to know.
It was after supper, when night had come; I had taken an hour of
repose, and laid me down upon my bed. I was weary, and mmy heart began
to follow after slumber. Then it was as if weapons were branshaded and
as if one inquired, concerning me and I became like a snake of the desert.
I roused me, to fight alone, and I marked that it was a hand to hand
affray of the bodyguard. When I had quicky taken weapons into my hand,
I drove back the rogues. But there is no strenth by night, and one can
not fight along and success will not come without the one who
protected me.
Behold, the abominable thing came to pass when I was without you, when
the Court had not yet heard that I am resigning the soverign power to
you , when I did not yet dwell on you. May I act according to your
counsels, for I fear them no more and I am powerless against the
indolence of servants.
Had the women set the battle in array? Had the conflict been forstered
within the house? Were the townsmen made foolish on account of thir
deeds. Ill fortune has not come behind me since my birth and nothing
happened that might equal my prowess as a doer of valiant deeds.
I trod Elephantin, I marched into the Delta; I stood upon the
boundaries of the land and behld its circuit. I carried foreward the
coundaries of my power by my might and my prowess.
I was one that produced barley and loved the corn god, the nile
greeted me on every .... None hungered in my years, none thirsted in

all that I comanded was as it should be.

[there are pieces missing]
I On descretion in Speech
---- the humble remain whole, and he that deals uprightly is praised;
the tent is ipened for the humble and he that is cautions in speech
has a broad ple, but the knife is sharp against him that strays from
the path----
II On Behavior At A Meal
If you sit with many people, hold the food in abhorance, even if you
desire it; it takes only a bief moment to master oneself, and it is
disgraceful to be greedy-----
A cup of water quenches the thirst, and if the mouth be full of.......
it strangthens the heart. A good thing takes the place of that which
is good (a simple but good dish suffices) just a little takes the
place of much. He is a miserable man that is greedy for his body.
(this one I think on a lot.... considdering that I live w/someone who
doesnt understand moderation, and for those who have never attended
one of my rituals, You will NEVER go hungrey and you will NOT thirst.
Esp for the 12 hr rituals... you take time durring the ritual to eat
and drink once an hr)
III Meal Time
If you sit with a greedy person, eat only when his meal is over and if
you sit with a drubkard, take only when his desire is satisfyed. Rage
not against the meanin the preasance of a ....; take when he gives to
you and refuse it not. THink, that softens him.
(of course this is assuming that 8 guardian, anscestoral spirits are
not drinking through you,,, turning you into a glutton for sake like

V Be Not Boastful
Be not boastful of they strength in the midst of those of thine own

Opening Prayer
Hail Harakhte, lord of the two horizons,
In your beauty, in your spendor,
On your thrones, in your radiance !
Great One, whose greatness cannot be comprehended,
Lord of the throne, who keeps secret what is hidden.
High One, whose circuit is unknown.
Greatest of powers, fremost one of the East:
How mysterious are your forms,
Though y ou reveal yourself in heaven each day.
I rais my arms in praise of your Ka,
You have gladdened my heart with your beauty,
all rejoice when you are seen !
You are ancestor of the living,
Guardian of those in the Duat,
You are enduring in time.
You are possessor of the royal crowns,
custodian of the sceptres,
keeper of all offerings in the Western land.
Sole watchman, who loaths slumber:
you shine upon the millions
with your beautiful face.
Grand that I may cross the sky with you,
and complete the task of yesterday each day.
(Harakhte is the name of the sphynx)

Vocabulary.
"To the Ancients, the sacred names, words of power and origial appellations of spiritual figures convey, both in thier writing and enunciation, the spirit they engender."

Heru em Aakhuti - Horus of the Two Horizons/ the sphynx at Giza
Heru pa khart - Heru the child
Heru-Ur - Heru the Elder
Heru - the younger
As names change, so do the nuances of meaning. As the Greeks renamed the Ntr so did they also corrupt the divine essance. The deffinitions have changed and thusely the 'gods' as constructed by the Geeks/Romans have as well. That is why Isis, Osirus, Anubis are Greek/Roman constructs, as you will come to understand more fully at the completion of the first class.
Ntr - God/ Spirit / Devine or Cosmic Principle
Hekau - magick/ language/ words.
Kmt
Khmt - The Black Land / The people and country of ancient egypt
Kemi
Nesut (m) - Pharoaoh
Nesuf (f)
Part One
Ancient teachings tell us Asar as Nesut left his kingdom and traveled the world to share his wisedome and knowledge. There are simalarities if not out right influance in many spiritual paths practiced today. To list some : Kabalistic; Druidic; Hindu (although there is dispute as to which culter is older, Kmt or India and which culter influanced the other), and Shintoism. Confucism and Buddhism are seeped with simalarities to the wisdome text. There are discaplines based on kmt teachings such as Alchemy and Herrmetics. Kmt was the place of saught after learning and knowlege, so much so that Plutarch,Pathagorus and Hypocratese studdied with the Masters of the Temples. In fact, many modern books concerning the Kmt practices will have listings in thier bibliography of eastern and greek philosophies. Even the christian bible has been influenced as seen in the ten commandents, proverbs, psalms up to the new testamet by the negative confession not to mention the sages Amenemope, Ptah-Hotep, Merikara and countless unsignatured text.
Hekau
Words. Djehuti gave mankind speach, and language. Ma'at gave us order. Therefore speach is sacred. In looking at the Negitive confession and various wisedom text we are showered with the impact of this as quite a bit deals with apropriate speach. It is very simalar to the differances between english and vedic. As english words and symbols (ie the alphabet) impose on us a definitive idea. Hyroglyphs provide us with the symbol and it is up to our spiritual evolution to determine its essance. As vedic is vibrational (symbolic) so is Hekau. (rowan : expound) For a deeper understanding I sudgest reading the symbol and the symbolic by de lubicz.
Ma'at and the Wisedom Text
The priests were the servents to the Ntr. They performed ritual celebratory of Ntr. In order to do this the preasts must be pure in spirit, mind and body. There were cleansing rituals for the body including specific kinds of fasting. Three days before their particular temple rotation (the priests were allowed to mary and have families) they performed a three day fast. No meat or dairy, usually raw foods. They drank a certain mixture that had a two part ........... it detoxed the system and provided daily nutrients. As for the soul, my first Kemit teacher informed me that the priests of her denomination still practice the recitation of the Tenants of Ma'at. Apon rising and before retiering one should recite the 42 tennants of Ma'at. Also the priests were expected to engage in appropriate behavior and I, as did they hand copied not only the 42 tennants but various wisedom text as well. In closing, in order to perform ritual/ magic and glorifications of the Ntr one must understand how to behave in a way pleasing to the Ntr.
"Do not rais your voice in the god's house, he abhors loud speach.
Pray alone with a loving heart, safeguard your words.
he will grant your needs, he will accept your offerings.
Offer to your deity, do not offend his presence.
Do not question his forms, do not make demands when he appears,
Do not become disorderly in his procession or interupt theoracles.
He gives power in a million forms.
The one who magnifies him is magnified.
The god of this earth is the Sun in the sky,
While his images are on Earth.
Offer them daily incesnse as food,
And the lord of risings will be satisfied
---Instruction of Ani, Dynasty 18"
---Sacred Magic of Ancient Egypt - Rosemary Clark
The 42 Tennants of Ma'at or the Negitive confession is featured in many differant pyramid text and various scrolls. I have translations by Ra Um Nefer Amen, Faukner and Budge concerning the Papyrus of Ani, the Theban Recension (faukner), the papyrus of Nu by Rosemary clark and a translation by Muata Ashbey (though Im not sure which text/papyrus he translated from)
The School and Reagon.
In this part I will breafly go over the most basic principles encoumpased by the Temple and its teachings regarding the Ntr.
I
n kmt each grouping or family of Ntr and thier associations were taught at various schools and locations. Today we are concerned with Wsr, Asar, Auset, Set, Nebt-Het and Sopdet. In the kmt tradition the axium as above, so below was born. The kmts did Not sperate their daily life from their spiritual. The Underworld and Heaven had the same Nomes (provinces) as the physical plane of Kmt. There are 42 nom spirits, (the assessors durring the negitive confession) and there are 42 Ntr with in the 10 cosmic families. As you may have infered from the referance to Pythagorus, the kmt's held numbers in sacred esteem as they did with language. This is one of the origins of Numberology. The kmts also did not seperate astonomy and astrology as we do today. As lanuage and writing were sacred, the kmts did not record thier vowels hence, the many differant ways to spell the same name. They did not believe in zero, insted they bleieved in primordial khaos (unformed matter/ latent consciousness/ potential in it's raw form)
Below is a brief synopsys of the school and its 'troup' or 'family' of Ntr.
Each school had associations w/the directions and each direction had it's own 'world' and Ntr.
Sopdet - Presentience / Precession
The rising of Sept marked the New Year and the anual flooding of the nile. This was a day of great importance to the agriculteral society. Also it was believed by the ancients that they orriginated in the Sept star system, they even had intamate knowledge of the three stars of which the weastern cutler was not even awair of untill the 1960's. Sopdet is also known as The Black Auset. (Auset absorbed many of the femine principles/Ntr)
We are going to begin the school at Iunnu (Heliopolis) and it's corrispondance, the World of Rostau (the physical plane).
Rostau
This represents the earth and its shadow. Spiritual and active which overlap to create our life experiance. It also embodies the elements interaction and support/suplementation in our lives.
The Iunu Ennead (the helliopolan ennead)
Atum - Unity and Consciousness
A solar Ntr self created, he is "The All/ The Complete One" There are two myths surrounding the creation of his 'children', one is that he sneazed them out and the other is that he masterbated and thus created.
Shu - Inhalation/ breath
Tefnut - Diffusion / sensation
Cosmic principles of wind and moisture. They give birth to the more physical of Ntr.
Geb - Creation / Vegitation
Nut - Augmentation/ Gestation
We are used to Geb and Nut mearly representing Sky and earth. They too are cosmic representations, like the norse fehu they also represent matter and fire. In this way they are able to create the progeners of 'man'. The Spiritual Principles of life embodied by thier 'children'.
Asar - Renewal/ Germination
Auset - Fruitation/ birth
They are definitive of our exsistance, descending from the spritual as part of primordial Ntr, in order to be phisically born and thus gain expeariace in order to learn how to acend the earthy toward the more spiritual. They ARE the human exsistance of life as it goes through its cycles not only physically in nature but spritually as well.
Set - Fixation / Corruption
Nebt - Het - Secreation/ Sustanance
They are influences of the material exsistance or life after it has become physical. Our drives, what keeps us here, our needs/desires.
The Dendera Triad. Proliferation.
Het-Her - fertilization/ Conception
The earth, she creates the physical and returnes it to the elements.
Heru - Ascentsion/ Mastery
of both earth and sky, he embodies the aspect of fire. He also represents overcoming our 'base' nauture and evolving spiritually.
Ihy - Insemination/ Procreation
The child of Het-Her and heru, he rose out of a lotus flower and was able to walk among men. His creative aspect is all encoumpasing.
The final grouping of Ntr would be the Funerary Quaternary. Sublimination
From burial rites to protective guardians. Their presance permiates every ritual, as they are deviners, guardians and physical principles. They are associated with the elements of fire, earth, air and water.
Imset - Coagulation/ Liver
Haapi - Circulation/ Lungs
Daumutef - Decomposition/ Stomach
Qebsenuf - Assimilation/ Intestines
The Iunu Tradition (Heliopolis)
Pythagoras of Samos was a student at the Temple of the Sun for twenty-five years before opening his own school in Crotona Italy.
... he ''propounded a view of the universe which is comprised of nine essential rhythms, a 'divine enead.' In his organization of manifest reality, the numbers one through nine symbolically represent every possible expression of the life force, which the Heliopolitan Ennead traditionally embodies in the functions of its Neteru.
"Metaphorically, the nine Neteru of the Heliopolitan creation also represt the nine months of human getsation, as well as the nine components of physical embodiment and growth in mammalian life. Atum represents teh moment of the spirits descent inot the physical matrix. Shu embodies teh sperm and Tefnut, the ovum. Nut provides the amniotic waters of the womb and Geb the umbilicus wich nourishes the fetus. Asar is the spirits entrance into the womb and its enclosure in the body while Set is the separation of the spirit from its origianal state and attachment to human life. Auset, the womb, gives birth and Nebt-Het feeds the newborn infant." --The Sacred Tradition In Ancient Egypt : Rosemary Clark.
Part two:
A Closer Look At Asar, Set, Auset and Nebt-Het
Asar "the Firstborn of the Divine Bretheran"
Embodies the concept of 'resurection'. Not the misconception of that one specific body and united soul dying and then both rising again, but something more in depth. You can come closer to his cyclic nature when comparing him to the norse rune jera. Jera is the run of cycles, as Asar is the Ntr. Your soul is born, it dies, it becomes part of the primordial, it is born again. Plant a seed, deep in the earth, it grows, it blooms... it withers and then hibernates.. to be 'born' again come next season. He is the cycle of life. Un Nefer (to spring up, arise) is the hyroglyph that denotes his name. He is known as the Black Ntr when in potential state and the Green Ntr when flourishing.
Plurtarch wrote extensively of the Asarian myths and corrispondances to the cycle of the moon; his death in the season of scorpio (death/transformation) his dismemberment and its association of half of the 28 day lunar cycle. 14 Temples were constructed in the places where Auset, Anpu and Nebt-Het found the peaces of his body.

He braught with him, when he came to live among men, the knowledge. Much as Djehuti braught us language and alphabet, he braught us the understanding of that which is in nature. One of his titles is the 'father of man' as we are said to have been his descendants. Since he died and reigns in the duat he is holder of occult mysteries. Saturn is associated with Asar and is known in astrology to be the planet of death and transformation, its cycle is also 28 days, the age in which Asar was killed by Set. Asar is also associated with the sacred ratio of phi. His soul dwelt in Orion, Auset is symbolic of Sirius and together their union created a race that inherantly embodies 'the universe' or 'divine beings' ... humans, the children of the Ntr.

The Second Born
The destroyer, devourer, devider. Set is an incarnation of Atum in this aspect he is known as the destroyer of souls by the name of Shet.
Set
Throne
He came into the world on the third day. Plurtarch recounts that he was not born at the right time or place but created a wound in his mothers side, forcing his birth on his own terms. Originally he was a benevolant Nrt of the deasert. He ruled the souther lands, part of Nubia and the Lybian deaserts. He has many differant roles in ancient literature. He is the one who kills aepe every night as he is the only one strong enough. He is the one to call on to help climb the ladder to heaven. He devours those souls (in his other form of amit) who fail the weighing of the heart so that they may be born again. He is associated with the Great Bear constalation (Khepesh) We are more familiar with the Set depicted in the later dynastic times as the one who kills his brother out of jelousy and terrorises Heru. He is the Ntr of the Night sky and sand storms. His other name is Seb ur (great streangth) He is the law of mortality and the forces of nature.
"The forces of chaos are governed by Set.......is not the Neter of evil; there is truly not a divine being who stands for or promotes it. Rather , he represents the fivision of order and its resultant disorder, withing the context of natural, cyclic episodes. Thus, Set brings to pass the breaches of existence -dissollution,, separation, isolation - not the anomalies. ..... chaos is a tool of evil, but of itself does not necessarily evince it. Evil takes place when it is authorized, or assumed by an authority and supported by its setting. When there is a dearth of consciousness and moral structure, the prospect of evil becomes considerable. It can then manifest on many levels, but it begins on the psychic plane and takes root from that dimension, moving inot social, culteral and religious spheres." Praxis -- Rosemary Clark.

Opening Prayer
Hail Harakhte, lord of the two horizons,
In your beauty, in your spendor,
On your thrones, in your radiance !
Great One, whose greatness cannot be comprehended,
Lord of the throne, who keeps secret what is hidden.
High One, whose circuit is unknown.
Greatest of powers, fremost one of the East:
How mysterious are your forms,
Though y ou reveal yourself in heaven each day.
I rais my arms in praise of your Ka,
You have gladdened my heart with your beauty,
all rejoice when you are seen !
You are ancestor of the living,
Guardian of those in the Duat,
You are enduring in time.
You are possessor of the royal crowns,
custodian of the sceptres,
keeper of all offerings in the Western land.
Sole watchman, who loaths slumber:
you shine upon the millions
with your beautiful face.
Grand that I may cross the sky with you,
and complete the task of yesterday each day.
(Harakhte is the name of the sphynx)

As names change, so do the nuances of meaning. As the Greeks renamed the Ntr so did they also corrupt the divine essance. The deffinitions have changed and thusely the 'gods' as constructed by the Geeks/Romans have as well. That is why Isis, Osirus, Anubis are Greek/Roman constructs, as you will come to understand more fully at the completion of the first class.

Contemplation
Auset is behind you, she protects your limbs.
As she did for her son, she protects the Heru Shemsu,
Those who followed him from the first occasion.
Her offspring are the living, their lord is sovereign of the Two Lands.
They are born among the Neteru, among the cedars,
They are members of the Paut, the first born.
She is mother of the justified one, he who repulses all adversaries,
Who makes transormations in heaven and is born each morning.
Her heirs endure forever and ever, they are given life,
They join witht the disk eternally

Hekau
